New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Woodbine GA

Thou my everlasting Portion, more than friend or life to me, All along my
pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee. Lead me through the vale of
shadows, bear me o’er life’s fitful sea; Then the gate of life eternal May I
enter, Lord, with Thee.

When this feeble life is over Thru the gate of life eternal

May I enter, Lord, with Thee.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church History

The first light that was shed in minds of the group of organizers of this church has spread with such force that it has become a beacon in the center of the hill that beckons men and women into its path.

From the insignificant small edifice, lacking in detail of so many things, its has grown to this capacity with the banner of Christ ever hanging high that men may follow on.

The sincerity of purpose, the warmth of their motives, with the strength of their support, has made out of a few boards, stones, some bricks and a few windows, a great temple of worship for the rich, the poor and even the wayfaring who pass this way.

We pause to salute the pioneers of this effort, who without a doubt, put God in front and in spite of small financial gain were able to hold on, to carry on and push forward to here.

Rev. E. Hardy organized New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 1872 with the help of Pastor, Rev. S. C. Roberts, Deacons Wiley Williams, Peter Sibley, Frank Baker, Stephen Baker, and many others.

Rev. Roberts served as pastor for many years, after which Rev. T. S. Lockett fought faithfully in the field as a soldier winning souls for Christ. As the good Book says, “Go ye into all the world and preach,” Rev. Roberts walled to another ministry. Rev. Johnson came to lead New Hope’s flock, and did his spiritual assignment. After which, Rev. After serving at New Hope MBC for three years, Rev. Knight chose to begin hes own ministry and resigned in January of 2004 as pastor of New Hope MBC.

In April of 2004 Rev. Walter Spencer came to serve as interim pastor at the request of his pastor Rev. Dr. E. L. Hart until a pastor was found.
